The Hytera MD785 is a commonly used commercial DMR mobile radio (Tier II and III) in the amateur radio community.
It is typically used on UHF for DMR repeaters, hotspots, and analog FM, and is valued for its stable RF performance and reliable audio.
The radio can also be used as a repeater by using repeater firmware, both in DMR and analog modes.
The production ran approximately from the early-2010s until March 31, 2024 when the MD785 was discontinued and replaced with the MD785i.
The software for the radio consists of two parts: the CPS (Customer Programming Software) and the radio firmware.
If you need to program the radio, you must use the same CPS version as the firmware installed on the radio.
Mismatched versions will prevent successful programming.
