
The Motorola MTP6650 is a TETRA handheld transceiver that is widely used by radio amateurs for DMO and TMO operation, access to TETRA repeaters, and monitoring of live TETRA networks.
It supports external antennas (both SMA on top, and connector at the rear), has a large display, 2W built-in speaker, and several programmable buttons.
The radios meet and exceed MIL-SPEC test standards as well as ETSI mechanical tests. The MTP6000 radios are IP67 compliant, which means they can operate even after being submerged in water.
Configuration is done via Motorola CPS, with functionality determined by firmware version and enabled options.
Operation on TETRA networks requires proper authorization; many amateurs use the radio for receive-only monitoring or controlled experimental use, depending on local regulations.
The radio supports TEA1 to TEA4 encryption. Ownership or use of equipment with encryption capabilities may be restricted in some countries. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify compliance with local laws before purchasing.
